What is International Bibliobattle Tournament 2021?

“Bibliobattle” is an academic book review game that originated in Japan. Each participant brings a book they love, which they will take turns introducing to the audience. Once everyone has had a turn, the spectators and participants choose the book that they would like to read the most based on the presentations done by the participants, and the book with the most votes is deemed the “Champion Book”. There can also be book talks if there is spare time.
Every year, the Shibu Shibu Library Committee has had a Bibliobattle with other schools.
Although COVID-19 has forced us to host this competition online, this certainly does not mean that it will be less entertaining. We would like to show people around the world the appeal of Bibliobattles through this SOLA 2021 event.
The best thing about Bibliobattle is that you can be introduced to books you wouldn't usually read. Even though the internet and many libraries have enabled us to discover new books, most of the books we encounter are in the same genres, and finding completely different books can be harder than it seems. Bibliobattles solve that problem and introduce us to new books regardless of their genre, allowing us to step out of our comfort zones and make new discoveries.
Something as simple as reading a great book can change our lives. Whether you read regularly or not, please feel free to join us in our fun event and experience your first ever Bibliobattle!
