WELCOME TO

SOLA 2021

Watch our introduction video:

What is SOLA 2021?

Since 2019, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan (MEXT), as a means of providing high school students with high quality learning and cultivating innovative people in preparation for Society 5.0, has been organizing the Worldwide Learning Consortium Project with the support of international organizations and high schools, universities and corporations across the globe.

It has been three years since our school was designated by MEXT as one of its hub schools. This year being the final year, we have decided to hold the
Shibuya Olympiad in Liberal Arts 2021 as a summary of the program. This is a student-organized international exchange program consisting of several events, such as competitions, workshops, and presentations. The theme is "SDGs and the future we build." An international event of this scale run by and for high school students is yet to be seen and a commemorative event unlike any other in the world.

Welcome to Shibuya Olympiad in Liberal Arts 2021 (SOLA 2021)!

This is a learning-based international event for junior and senior high school students. By learning from each other, sharing ideas and experiences, and thereby raising awareness on social issues, this event aims to foster global
citizens of the next generation that take on the responsibility to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on a worldwide basis.

SOLA 2021 is designed to create an environment for junior and senior high school students with similar goals to build life-long relationships and continue working together in the future. All programs will be organized by and for junior and senior high school students, and by doing so, aim to communicate strong messages to the world.

The COVID-19 pandemic has severely affected students all over the world. With the school closure and several restrictions on school events, we have come to realize that learning takes place not only on an individual basis but also through interacting with other people. In this sense, online activities can be very effective in connecting people, especially in the face of a pandemic where face-to-face activities are almost impossible. We hope many promising junior & senior high school students will come together in SOLA 2021 under the banner of “SDGs: the goals of the future we create.”

Last but not the least, we would like to express our gratitude to several corporations, universities and organizations for their tremendous support, especially to NEC and Camoman for sponsoring SOLA 2021.
